Material Structure and ESD Performance


Aluminum coated anti static bags are engineered with a multi-layer composite structure that combines a thin aluminum layer with conductive polyethylene. This design provides electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection by creating a Faraday cage effect, effectively shielding sensitive electronic components from external electrostatic fields. The aluminum layer offers superior electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, while the conductive polyethylene layer ensures surface resistivity in the range of 10⁶–10⁹ ohms, allowing static charges to dissipate safely. These bags comply with ANSI/ESD S20.20 and IEC 61340 standards, making them suitable for environments with strict ESD control requirements, such as semiconductor manufacturing and aerospace assembly.


Moisture and Chemical Resistance


Beyond ESD protection, the aluminum coating enhances moisture barrier properties, reducing the risk of corrosion or degradation caused by humidity. The multi-layer construction also provides resistance to chemicals and abrasion, ensuring long-term durability. Testing shows these bags achieve MVTR (moisture vapor transmission rate) values below 0.2 g/100in²/24hr, making them ideal for storing components in high-humidity environments. The aluminum layer further acts as a barrier against UV radiation, preventing material degradation during extended storage.


Applications in High-Sensitivity Environments


These bags are widely used in industries where static-sensitive devices (SSD) are handled, including integrated circuit (IC) packaging, printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, and medical device manufacturing. Their lightweight yet robust design allows for easy handling without compromising protection. For example, in semiconductor wafer processing, aluminum coated bags ensure wafers remain free from electrostatic discharge and particulate contamination. The opaque aluminum layer also provides light protection, critical for photosensitive components like sensors and optoelectronic devices.
